A wolf pup exploring his world away from the pack. He is considered a teenager and is feeling his oats. He has an enormous territory to explore.

  • A magnificent creature singing in an incredible fall laced forest.
  • Mom and her two pups are out looking for food.  She is teaching them to hunt.  Note the incredible terrain they live in.
  • "Oh, give me land, lots of land, under starry skies above, Don't Fence Me In."  Howling allows the pack to stay in contact when they might be spread out over a wide area of the forest.  The howling denotes home.
  • And this is why we are photographers.  He came close and just stared.  His weathered, damaged face shows character and years of rugged living.
  • Stop digging, you're getting dirt in my eyes.  Mother wolf is digging with determination, her pups will be born soon and her den must be dug and prepared.  Some wolves just seem to get in the way.
  • "That Old Man River, that old man river, he'll just keep rollin along."  Wolves will sing before the hunt and to call the hunters back after the hunt.
  • A brilliant red wolf is found in an open field where he has found something good to eat.  Note the shining eyes.
  • The howl has a variety of tones and pitch.  Wolves howl during the breeding season, to communicate with the pack and often before and after the evening hunt.
  • A mother and her two pups looking for food.  The may have to traval many miles to find prey.
  • With winter coming on the wolves develop a thicker coat of fur and as food may be scarce, they must hunt a wider range.
  • These two red wolves are peering out of the forest, their eyes looking wild.   The eyes are piercing, somewhat eerie and a little scary.  They are cuddled up close to one another.
  • Ever watchful, this white wolf hears something in the forest and rises to look around.  The foliage is thick and the grass tall.  When the wolf lies down, she cannot be seen.
  • Mom is digging her den while others seem content to lay around and be covered with dirt.  The mother will remain in the den with her pups since they are blind at birth.
  • "Come let's mix where Rockefellers walk with sticks, Puttin on the Ritz."  This wolf is singing his heart out surrounded by glorious fall foliage.
  • What a wonderful image, an awesome creature in a magnificent setting.
  • The evening sun sets this white wolf ablaze.  It is cold but no matter, what a fine image.
  • Enjoying a cool drink from the stream, this wolf never takes her eyes off of her surroundings.
