  • This is a very unique humpback whale image. All wildlife photographers have moments when things go wrong and the situation becomes dangerous. This whale decided to dive about 100 yards away. I stood on the side of the small boat waiting for him to surface. Without warning this 40 ton whale breaches right next to the boat and me, actually hitting the boat. I could have touched him. There was no time, I hit the camera's shutter button. We were all soaked, boat filled with water and scared to death.
  • On a foggy morning the humpback breaches close to the boat.

  • After swimming through the gantlet of prey; other fish, seabirds, land birds, and humpback whales, these lucky Capelin have reached the beach to lay their eggs and then die. Many are eaten along the way. It is important that the Capelin reach the beach to spawn, many species depend upon them as a food source.
