Screech Owl feathers are usually a brownish hue which protects them in their habitat. But these owls have a genetic change which is common in nature. They are light gray and red.

  • Saw Whet Owl hiding in a fir tree and does not want to be seen.  They like trees and will nest within a hole left by another bird.
  • "I don't like the wind."  The Great Horned Owl doesn't like his feathers blown about.  His expression is priceless.
  • Owls have small bodies, they are all feathers.  This is the Great Horned Owl, but of course they have no horns, it is all feathers.  Note the color variations allowing them to blend with their surroundings.
  • This Great Horned Owl blends well with his habitat.
  • A Short Eared Owl was walking about in the tall grass.  The evening sun makes him shine.  How nice for the flowers to be in the clearing.  I think he disapproves.

  • Snowy Owls are fine hunters and will eat almost anything that is their size or smaller.  They hunt close to the nest to raise and protect the young.
  • A very young Snowy Owl waiting for Mother to bring dinner.  Soon this owl will be on his own.  He lives in a dense forest with cover and ample prey.
  • This very small Burrowing Owl has such large eyes.  He is curious.  He is living in a sand and tall grass habitat and blends nicely.
