  • Mandrill's are primates and are related to the Baboon family. They are very colorful and have a lot of character.
  • Mandrill's are the largest monkey species in the world. They have a distinctive red and blue face and eyebrows. Their fur is an olive color with variations.
  • During courtship, the female will walk behind the male. If he is interested, he will stop and turn towards her. This is love at first sight.
  • The mandrill is recognized by the grizzled light brown or olive-colored fur and grey-white-yellowish fur under their neck. Their colorful face and rump of the males grows stronger with sexual maturity.
  • Mandrill's are omnivores and will forage for mostly plants, insects and small animals. This can make local farmers upset, as crops can disappear.
  • The leopard has a particular liking for mandrill and is one of their main predators.
  • Mandrill's live in large groups led by a dominant male. He oversees several females and children. You have to love the goatee.
  • This large male can run close to 80 pounds. As you can see by his enormous jaws, a mandrill could be very dangerous.
